Whilst “plastics” is a one word line in The Graduate it does have a fair old build up:

Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Plastics.
Benjamin: Just how do you mean that, sir?

Perhaps a better choice from that film is: “Wood.” It’s a one word line coming out of nowhere (with the added bonus of being followed by another one word line):

[Offering Mrs. Robinson a coat hanger]
Benjamin: Wood?
Mrs. Robinson: What?
Benjamin: Wood or wire? They have both.

Oh dear, the Comment fields here are too short, I’ll have to do this one in bits as my Graduate comment has been cut off in it’s prime…
