Truck festival, 19th/20th July, Oxford, has been running for 11 years now. Originally, the main stage was a truck, out of the back of which bands played.

1. ‘Hey, Lloyd’ is a beautiful song, featuring an organ that sounds like having spent all week soundtracking funerals, it’s decided to cut loose, put its gladrags on and get schmaltzy. I have something of a soft spot for schmaltz. Also for narrative in pop-culture: this song was written in response to Lloyd Cole & the Commotions ‘Are You Ready to be Heartbroken?’ from 1984, which with lyrics like “What would it take to wipe that smile off of your face? Are you ready to be, are you ready to bleed?
Are you ready to be heartbroken?” takes itself a bit seriously. Unlike Camera Obscura, who are made to play a sun-drenched field.

2. Lovely, lovely real ale. Much better than the 1.5 litre plastic bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that formed the backbone of Sunday’s nutrition.

3. Rather a weird experience this: not seeing an ex-boyfriend for almost four years, and then when you do see him, he’s doing stand-up comedy at a festival. Bless.

4. Oh yes. Have it, Glastonbury.

5. I thought I had boots in my bag. I didn’t have boots in my bag. But you know what? Red high heeled shoes at a festival = winning at life.
