1. We need to make Will Hay cool again. This is his finest 80 minutes.

2. Okay so Richard Gere is in it but it’s the finest piece of narrated cinema I’ve seen. Ennio Morricone score as well.

3. What? You’ve never seen this? At points it’s plain weird and surreal. Nice observations on Hollywood in the 1920s too.

4. Rich in plot, performance, music (really lovely score by Carter Burwell). Head and shoulders above every other Coen Bros’ movie.

5. Serious and funny and Woody’s not in it. Lovely detail about US Radio in the 1940s – not sure I know of another film that covers this era, or at least does it so lovingly.
